Payroll Manager
Join a large, privately owned group with a portfolio of venues and experiences across multiple states and regions. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of payroll operations covering more than 1,000 employees across a diverse, fast-paced environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant end-to-end payroll. Leading a team of two, you’ll oversee fortnightly processing, manage payroll systems (Tanda and MicrOpay), and ensure all statutory reporting obligations are met — including STP, superannuation, and WGEA.
The position requires a strong understanding of enterprise agreements and modern awards, combined with the ability to provide practical advice to HR, Finance, and Operations leaders. You’ll also drive process improvement and systems development while maintaining exceptional accuracy and service.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and process end-to-end payroll for a workforce of over 1,000 employees.
• Lead, mentor, and support two Payroll Officers.
• Ensure compliance with industrial instruments and legislative requirements.
• Administer payroll systems (Tanda and MicrOpay) and manage reconciliations and reporting.
• Partner with HR and Finance to resolve queries and implement process improvements.
About You
• 5+ years’ experience managing payroll in a high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
• Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Why Apply
This is a rare opportunity to join a large, people-focused organisation that is investing heavily in its systems, people, and future growth. You’ll enjoy a collaborative culture, a supportive leadership team, and a modern head office located in the Melbourne CBD, with the flexibility of hybrid work.
