Assistant Accountant

Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Accountant with a strong Accounts Receivable focus to join the finance team of a privately owned Australian group. The private business operates in the hospitality sector with diversified operations and a reputation for quality service and innovation. This role offers variety, visibility, and the chance to build strong commercial finance fundamentals in a growing environment.

About the Role
Reporting into a Finance Manager within a collaborative finance team, you’ll take the lead on Accounts Receivable while supporting core assistant accountant activities. The role is suited to someone who enjoys detail, takes pride in clean reconciliations, and likes working closely with operational stakeholders to keep revenue processes running smoothly. You’ll be hands-on across daily transactions and play a key part in month-end reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
  • Own end-to-end Accounts Receivable processes including invoice processing and allocations.
  • Complete unearned revenue and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review sales P&L by location and support reporting/analysis.
  • Prepare month-end revenue accruals and assist in close activities.
  • Support system integrations between operational platforms and the accounting system.
  • Conduct AR ageing analysis, debtor follow-ups and resolve customer/internal queries.
  • Process intercompany invoicing and assist with ad-hoc finance tasks as required.
About You
  • 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting role, ideally with a strong AR component.
  • Solid reconciliation skills and a sharp eye for detail.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Confident communicator who builds rapport with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proactive, practical and eager to improve processes.
  • Positive team player who enjoys contributing to a down-to-earth culture.
Why Apply
This is a rare chance to join a stable, privately owned Australian operator in the hospitality sector. You’ll gain broad finance exposure beyond AR, work in a supportive team that values initiative, and have genuine pathways for development as the business continues to grow. Hybrid flexibility is available after onboarding, and the team is known for its friendly, hands-on approach.
