Senior Corporate Accountant

A large, privately owned development and construction group based in South Melbourne is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join its group finance function on an initial 12-month contract.

This role sits within a sophisticated, multi-entity environment and provides broad exposure across group reporting, statutory compliance, balance sheet management, and financial governance. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and external advisors while supporting the ongoing evolution of finance processes and controls across the group.

The Opportunity
This is a hands-on senior accounting role suited to someone who enjoys working in complex structures and wants exposure beyond core month-end. The position combines technical accounting, tax, and project-based work, with scope to contribute to system and process improvements across a growing group.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly and quarterly group reporting, including analysis and documentation of key accounting positions
  • Assisting with year-end statutory reporting and audit processes for a large consolidated group, including liaison with external auditors
  • Preparing detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring integrity across multiple entities
  • Managing and supporting indirect and direct tax obligations, including BAS, IAS, FBT, TPAR, and income tax returns
  • Working with external advisors on group tax matters such as GST consolidation, payroll tax grouping, and land tax compliance
  • Assisting with tax forecasting, planning initiatives, and implementation of structural changes within finance systems
  • Supporting finance aspects of special projects, including new entity setup, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and close-out
  • Contributing to improvements in financial controls, governance frameworks, and internal documentation
  • Assisting with the optimisation of finance systems and reporting tools
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to support informed financial decision-making
  • Providing guidance and day-to-day support to junior team members within the finance function

What We’re Looking For
  • CA or CPA
  • Strong technical accounting background within a multi-entity or consolidated environment
  • Experience gained from a large accounting firm, property group, construction business, or similarly complex organisation
  • Comfortable working across accounting, tax, and compliance responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with internal stakeholders and external advisors

Why Consider This Role
  • Initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension
  • Up to $160,000 Package
  • Exposure to a large, privately owned development and construction group
  • Broad role covering technical accounting, tax, governance, and projects
  • South Melbourne location within a high-quality, collaborative finance team
