Finance Manager - Private Family Office

The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a private family office with a diverse portfolio of active trading businesses and investments across property, retail, technology and other sectors. Unlike many passive family offices, this group operates hands-on businesses, creating genuine demand for commercial and tax advisory support.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with decision-makers and play a trusted role in shaping tax, structuring and compliance outcomes across the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax advice across a portfolio of trading and investment entities, including structuring, distributions and inter-entity arrangements
  • Lead tax planning, compliance and year-end processes in conjunction with external advisors
  • Manage Division 7A compliance, inter-entity loans and shareholder transactions
  • Assess tax implications of new investments, acquisitions and business initiatives
  • Act as the primary internal point of contact for tax matters, liaising with advisors and the ATO
  • Oversee financial reporting and compliance obligations across the group
  • Maintain oversight of entity structures, governance and statutory requirements
  • Provide financial and tax insights to support commercial and investment decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency, processes and controls
  • Review and coordinate work completed by external bookkeepers or junior accounting support
About You
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax, including Division 7A and private group structures
  • Experience working with or advising complex private groups, family offices or closely held businesses
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate technical tax matters into practical advice
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, confidential and entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with senior stakeholders
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a trusted advisory role within a family office, offering exposure to a diverse portfolio of operating businesses and investments. The role provides autonomy, variety and the chance to influence meaningful tax and structuring decisions in a long-term environment.
