Finance Manager

This is a genuine opportunity for a CA/CPA qualified finance professional who wants more than a process-following role inside a large corporate. Our client is a privately owned Australian investment group operating across private equity and property. With a centralised finance function supporting multiple investment entities and operating businesses, they are building out their finance capability and need someone to take real ownership of financial control and tax compliance across the Group. This is a role for someone who wants to be a genuine contributor to a high-performing finance function and grow with the business as it scales.

The role

Reporting to the GM Finance, you'll take ownership across:
  • Leading month-end and year-end financial close across all Group entities
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and inter-entity loan reconciliations
  • Income tax returns, BAS/GST, FBT and tax effect accounting across a multi-entity structure
  • Year-end tax planning and distribution resolutions for trusts, including Division 7A compliance
  • Managing the external audit process and acting as key contact for auditors
  • Oversight of finance systems and financial data integrity
  • Mentoring and developing a finance team member, including oversight of an offshored transactional team
What they're looking for

CA or CPA qualified with at least 5 years of experience from a Big Four or mid-tier accounting firm, or a comparable in-house role within a private group, investment structure or multi-entity environment. This would be an ideal opportunity for a strong Senior Accountant looking to step up into their first Finance Manager role. The background matters less than the person. Specifically:
  • Strong technical accounting capability across financial reporting and Australian tax compliance
  • Experience working within multi-entity or trust structures
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a lean team
  • Detail-oriented with a genuine compliance mindset and strong organisational skills
  • Collaborative and proactive – this is a small team and culture matters
  • Motivated by ownership, continuous improvement and doing things properly
Why this one is worth considering
  • Clear pathway to Financial Controller as the Group scales – this role is explicitly designed with that transition in mind
  • Broad exposure across financial control, tax compliance, audit and systems – not a siloed remit
  • Direct working relationships with the GM Finance and CFO, as well as the Head of Tax, Risk & Governance
  • Melbourne CBD location with flexible working arrangements
  • Be part of a growing private investment group at an exciting stage of its development
  • A role with real substance – not a seat-filler, but a genuine contributor to the finance function

If you're looking for a role with real complexity, genuine long-term opportunity and a clear path to controller, it's worth a conversation. Contact Jake Densley at Atlas Partners – jake.densley@atlaspartners.com.au
