National Payroll Manager
The Company
I’m currently partnering with a large national organisation within the health sector to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager.
The organisation employs approximately 4,000 employees nationally and has a long-tenured finance team with strong leadership and low turnover.
Payroll sits within the Finance function, reporting directly to senior finance leadership, and plays a critical role in supporting the organisation’s continued growth.

This role will take ownership of payroll operations while leading a team across multiple locations.
- Managing a payroll team of 6–7 staff across Australia and offshore
- Overseeing weekly payroll processing for approximately 4,000 employees across multiple entities using Affinity
- Ensuring payroll compliance including superannuation, payroll tax and legislative obligations
- Managing payroll journals, reconciliations and reporting into Finance
- Partnering closely with Finance and HR stakeholders
- Providing leadership, coaching and development to the payroll team
- Supporting payroll process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Assisting with the transition to a new payroll system (Dayforce)
You will be an experienced payroll professional who enjoys leading teams and managing complex payroll environments.
- Experience managing payroll for large organisations (3,000+ employees)
- Strong proven leadership capability
- Excellent knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance
- Experience with Dayforce is highly desirable
- Exposure to payroll system implementations or transformations
